Raleigh, NC (April 27, 2012) – MCNC announced today that the first round of the Golden LEAF Rural Broadband Initiative (GLRBI) is complete. This is an incredible accomplishment for the MCNC and the State, and the ERC congratulates them on this success. As a subrecipient to MCNC in the second round of the GLRBI, the ERC is happy to be a partner and participant in this groundbreaking effort. Asheville NC – Nov 9, 2011 – While visiting the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC), Congressman Heath Shuler and Tom Karl of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) took time to visit the ERC offices to learn more about broadband growth in the region. ERC Executive Director, Hunter Goosmann, explained how the ERC is supporting exponential growth in broadband capacity for NCDC as well as advancing broadband growth in rural western North Carolina. Goosmann also explained the advances related to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act’s stimulus efforts in the region.
